No need to travel far for real-world Krav Maga. Our nearest classes to Poulton sit just down the road at YMCA Thornton and Unity Academy in Blackpool — covering juniors, teens and adults. The open Saturday session at Thornton is the easiest place for Poulton families to start.
Poulton-le-Fylde doesn't have its own Krav Maga venue yet — but you're well covered. YMCA Thornton on Victoria Road East is roughly ten minutes from Poulton Market Place and the Teanlowe Centre, and its Saturday 11am session welcomes all ages from 5 up. It's the simplest way to give Krav Maga a go, whether you're coming as an adult, a teen, or a whole family.
If weekday evenings suit you better, Unity Academy in Blackpool runs Tuesdays with juniors, teens and adult classes back to back — also an easy drive from Poulton, Carleton and Singleton.
Wherever you start, it's the same instructor and the same standard: practical self-defence, taught in person, with no contract. See every venue and time →

Whether you start at the Saturday all-ages session in Thornton or Tuesday evenings at Unity Academy, Poulton students get the same coaching and curriculum. Every student trains the same Krav Maga Global curriculum — the system founded by Imi Lichtenfeld and developed under Eyal Yanilov — scaled to age and ability, and every class is taught in person by KMC's certified coaching team, led by head instructor Kev (17 years of Krav Maga, fully qualified adult and kids' instructor).
Stranger awareness, anti-bullying mindset, escape strategies, basic strikes and falling safely — heavy on games and drills, light on lecture. Classes capped at 16 with an assistant coach.
Real technique applied to situations teens actually face — corridors, bus stops, grabbed phones and bags — plus verbal de-escalation and awareness in public spaces. Light, controlled contact only.
The full KMG curriculum: strikes, kicks, and defences against punches, chokes and headlocks. All fitness levels welcome — you control your own intensity from day one.
Wear normal gym kit — loose clothing, clean indoor trainers — and bring a water bottle. No uniform, no gloves, nothing to buy. Arrive five or ten minutes early at YMCA Thornton or Unity Academy and introduce yourself to the coach; mention it's your first time and flag any injuries.
A typical hour runs warm-up → technique → drills: the instructor breaks a move down step by step, you practise it with a partner using light, controlled contact, then repeat it in slightly more realistic conditions until it feels natural. You set your own intensity and can dial it back at any point — beginners are expected every single week.
Not yet — but our nearest venues are very close. YMCA Thornton (Saturdays) is about ten minutes away, and Unity Academy in Blackpool runs Tuesday evenings.
